Ally Spotlight: Lou Stephens

It’s time for another volunteer spotlight, and this time we are getting to know our incredible ally Lou Stephens a little better. Lou was one of our first volunteers, helping us out delivering our Friday feasts each week.

Lou Stephens

Lou says: “I moved back to Bristol last year after ten years living in Brighton and London and it's great to be back in this awesome city. I'm a social worker by trade, working mainly with people with learning disabilities and dementia. Outside of work I'm all about music, cooking delicious food for friends and exploring the restaurants this wonderful city has to offer. Other times you can find me getting muddy on my bike exploring the South West.

“I've known and have been inspired by Houria's founder, Kim, for many years. The energy that she brings to projects is awe-inspiring and infectious and when she told me about Houria I knew immediately I wanted to be involved. I've worked with charities since 2006, including working with refugees, and I feel passionate about promoting the rights and opportunities of migrants in Bristol. I love having the chance to work with some exceptional and talented migrant women at Houria.

“Houria is an excellent social enterprise venture, destined to make a big social impact and an exciting cultural stamp on Bristol's food scene. I'm thrilled to be a part of it”.

A huge thanks to Lou and all our incredible volunteers. We are delighted to announce that we are in the process of on-boarding a host of new Allies who will be active in the new year. Bring on 2021!
